Confolens straddles the River Vienne in north Charente but the town is more or less where the 3 Departments of Charente, Vienne and Haute Vienne meet. Trying to find out what is happening in the local area across these three Departments would be difficult enough but local organisers tend to make it harder still by only relying of word-of-mouth or sometimes just telepathy to promote their events.
For a few years now, I have been emailing my friends about upcoming events I had discovered myself. This list proved surprisingly successful - so after a few tentative steps on the Internet and with the help of a few diligent volunteers we enlisted MailChimp to publish our newsletter and manage subscribers.
Now, we are branching out again with our own web-site where anyone can sign-up for the monthly newsletter. And at the same time, I can finally realise my goal of providing simple, clear guidance to help new ex-pats settle in our area - at least that is my objective.
